With the arrival of October, I’m excitingly getting ready for the holiday season (yes, I’m one of the girls) but not before first throwing in some Halloween cheer in my blog. While I may not Halloween is not a festivity I celebrate exuberantly, I know plenty of my readers does. So, for you, I created an enchanting Halloween cocktail recipe, The Raven cocktail recipe.
Halloween is not a popular holiday here on Curaçao. You won’t find kids running around the neighborhood asking for candy or people playing dress up while drinking wine, but we do celebrate this very American holiday in our own modest way. We party our pants off! You see, the first time I celebrated Halloween I was 18 years old and a sophomore in college. Together with a group of friends I went to an open bar Halloween party dressed as a Greek Goddess with a white mini dress, silver gladiator sandals, and a silver crown around my head. The night started with a few glasses of vodka cranberry, then some red wine and the rest is still a blur. I should have had this Halloween cocktail recipe back then. Might have saved my honor.
I had so much to drink that night and I probably forgot half of what happened that night, but all I do know is that that was the best Halloween I have ever had. One of my friends had this costume with pointy headpiece and a really weird dance of going up and down, so every time she started dancing you could see her cone-shaped headpiece popping out of the crowd while she cleaned the dance floor with her dance moves. That night we all believed we were in some dancing with stars. Let me not start with how I started teaching salsa and fell butt on the floor in my little white dress.
Now, my binge drinking days are somewhat over, but that experience taught me that a good Halloween celebration needs good booze. Otherwise, how will your celebration go down in history as that one did for me? Now I’m turning in the vodka cranberries (that drink taste like sh*t!) for more grown-up drinks, a Halloween cocktail recipe.
I found this Halloween cocktail recipe pop up on my Pinterest feed a few times and I thought about giving it try. Same cranberry juice but with a more refined mix of flavors. Let people have a few of these and your party will be as good as the one I attended. Leave it to a few though before people start puking on your nice carpet.
