This dish brings me back to Italy. It was the first time I had Ravioli, and it was also the moment I learned that perfection sometimes comes from simplicity. Inspired by that I created this mozzarella ravioli recipe with creamy sun-dried tomatoes sauce.
The combination of ingredients makes it a classic pasta dish, but the delicacy of the ravioli just takes it up a notch. You can either use fresh ravioli or store-bought. I used store-bought, since making my own ravioli didn’t fit my schedule now. There are also fresh store-bought ravioli, but they don’t sell that in my hometown, unfortunately. I recently came across the brand Giovanni Rana and this was the perfect opportunity to test their pasta out. I was not disappointed. I loved it, actually! It was exactly what I expected. It’s a little denser than homemade ravioli, but that’s normal for store-bought pasta. I totally recommend you try it out.
So, I served my family this mozzarella ravioli recipe but the only thing I could think of is how amazing this dish would be for a romantic dinner, date night style. Add a good appetizer and a decadent dessert and you have a whole romantic 3-course menu. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this dish might be a great idea for you to share with your partner.
We rarely celebrate Valentine’s Day because each year there is a life-changing event around that same time (most of the time we’re moving), but I might bring a change to that this year. This year, like every year for the past we will be moving again, I might do something small but meaningful. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Just an intimate dinner to show my love to the man that has supported me this last year as no one else did. If you want to do the same, then make this mozzarella ravioli recipe. It’s done in less than half an hour and you won’t be spending the whole night in the kitchen or doing dishes afterward.

- 500 gr mozzarella ravioli
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup bacon chopped
- 1 cup basil chopped
- 1 1/2 cups sun-dried tomatoes chopped
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese garnish
- Food processor
- Cook the ravioli according to the package.
- In a heated non-stick pan add the bacon and garlic and cook for around 5 minutes on medium heat.
Add the basil, sun-dried tomatoes and mix. Add the heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and stir. Let it simmer for 5 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Turn the heat off and add the sauce into a food processor and pulse till you get a smooth sauce.
- Drain the ravioli and serve it on a plate. Pour the sauce over it and garnish with Parmesan cheese.
