If you look around my blog for seafood dishes you will be heavily disappointed. The thing is, I don’t like fish. I like crab’s salad, fried Red Snapper and I love (with emphasis on the love) sushi, but I will still always tell people that I don’t like fish. Only seafood that doesn’t really taste like seafood finds their way into my mouth, like this Garlic Shrimp Pasta Recipe
So around a month ago Fabian and I went to this local restaurant that is specialized in—just guess—seafood. A bit hesitant and not sure what to expect we still went. Fabian had a gift certificate for a dinner for two that was about to expire and we couldn’t let that happen. I ordered the shrimp pasta and the dish was delicious until I got the cheque. We didn’t notice that the amount on the menu was in dollars and not in the local currency. We ended having to pay 50 dollars extra and left in shock at the expensive price of the dishes.
The pasta taste of the pasta kept lingering in my mind, but I wasn’t planning on spending my money on that overpriced place again. So, I took the matter in my own hand and made my own shrimp pasta. This Garlic Shrimp Pasta was even better and cost not even a fraction of what they charged at that restaurant. Plus, the whole family was able to enjoy it.
A tasty and easy to make shrimp pasta with olive oil, garlic and sun-dried tomatoes
- 500 gr spaghetti
- 4 cloves garlic medium
- 5 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 500 gr shrimp medium, cooked, tail-on
- 90 gr sun-dried tomatoes sliced
- 2 handful basil
- crushed red pepper
- salt & pepper
In a pan with boiling water add a bit of salt and 1 tbsp of olive oil. Place the spaghetti and let it cook until al dente.
In the meantime, chop the garlic into fine pieces.
In a pan heat the olive oil together with the unsalted butter. Add the garlic and let it cook until golden brown. Add the shrimps and cook for about 10 more minutes. Add the sun-dried tomatoes, stir and add the pasta. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper. Toss until everything is well blended. Add the basil and toss again.
