Chicken wings are pretty much the goddess of entertaining food. Unless you have vegetarians in the group, no one can resist getting their hands dirty and relishing on a delicious chicken wing. In honor of this great appetizer, I present to you this great chicken wings platter recipe that features Asian-Style Wings, Honey-Garlic Wings, and Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese Dip.
While chicken wings are a very popular appetizer, I have to admit that I have never actually served it during a party. After seeing how easy it was to cook 3 flavors of wings, enough for a whole party, I wonder why it took me so long to make my own and turn it into a platter.
I only chose to use one dipping sauce for the buffalo wings, but you can also choose to have multiple sauces to accompany each flavor of wings. For example, a sweet and sour sauce for the Asian wings. That will make your chicken wings platter even more interesting. The veggies I added was so people can use it to dip, but also for them to clean their palette. When you have a platter with multiple flavors it’s always good to have something that cleanses their palette so they can truly taste each flavor.
I love how easy this recipe. You’ll just make the seasoning, coat the chicken, and bake them. That’s it. You can make it beforehand by coating the chicken, let it rest in the fridge, and bake before serving. You can coat them in a bowl, but you can also use a Ziploc bag (or a reusable one to be more eco-responsible) so it takes less space in your fridge.
If you don’t want to speed up the baking process, you can pre-bake the chicken wings beforehand. Make sure you don’t bake them all the way. Take them out just when there is approx. 10 minutes left, then bake it afterward for 10 minutes before serving. Then just add your wings and veggies on the serving platter and there you have it: an ultra-delicious chicken wings platter.
A delicious chicken wings platter recipe that features Asian-Style Wings, Honey-Garlic Wings, and Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese Dip.
- 1.5 kg drummettes
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce ketjap
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp hoy sin sauce
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- ½ tbsp paprika powder
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1 cup honey
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 60 gr butter
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup hot sauce
- ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt
- pepper to taste
- 1-3 tbsp milk
- celery sticks
- carrot sticks
- cucumber slices
Thaw the chicken and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
Preheat the oven to 250F/120C.
In 2 separate bowls, combine the ingredients for the Asian-Style Wings and Honey-Garlic Wings. In another bowl, combine the baking powder and salt for the Buffalo Wings.
Take 3 Ziploc bags and add 500 gr of drummettes in each bag. Add one sauce to each bag, shake, and coat them evenly. Write the wings flavor on the bag. Store the Asian-Style and Honey-Garlic in the fridge and let them rest for 3 hours minimum.
Line the baking tray with aluminum foil and grease it. Take the drummettes for the buffalo wings and layer them on the baking tray with skin side up. Bake on the lower part of the oven for 30 minutes. Then move the tray up to the higher part and turn the oven up to 425F/ 220C. Bake about 40 to 50 minutes and rotate the tray halfway through. You can see if the wings are ready when they are golden brown and look crispy. Lower the oven to 375F/190C.
Line the baking tray with a new sheet of aluminum foil and grease it. Layer the chicken wings next to each other. Remember which side has what flavor. Bake the chicken wings for around 40 minutes rotating halfway through.
In the meantime, melt the butter in a saucepan over low-medium heat. Whisk all the remaining ingredients of the buffalo wings, except the hot sauce. Then add the hot sauce bit by bit. Taste in between to determine how hot you want it. Add more or less depending on your taste.
In a bowl combine all the ingredients for the blue cheese sauce, except for the milk. Then add 1 tablespoon of milk and mix. Add more tablespoons of milk to reach your desired consistency. Toss the wings in the sauce and coat them evenly.
Spread the wings on your serving platter and add the blue cheese dip in a pinch bowl. Add the celery sticks, carrot sticks, and cucumbers. Serve with love!
