and feta cheese, avocado slices, and black olives.
I hate making salads. I just don’t have the creativity to make a salad delicious enough, especially if it’s a side salad. This BLT salad recipe is simple, quick to make, and a perfect side salad for a family style meal. I have to admit that I did make this BLT salad recipe and ate it for lunch, but I found it to be better paired with the main dish.
Growing up on a tropical island certainly puts a dent into your knowledge of fruits and vegetable. Since most “popular” fruits and vegetable have to be imported, they are too expensive for the average household. My mom did her best to always feed me my veggies, but it wasn’t until I moved to Europe that I really started discovering the different fruits and vegetables of the world.
I used to live on the edge of the downtown area and on walking distance from the local farmer’s market. Every Friday morning I used to walk to the market to buy some fruits and vegetables. Since the farmer’s market was much cheaper than the grocery store, I mostly made salads using affordable goodies that I got at the farmer’s market. That was until I made a salad using iceberg lettuce and pear. It was nothing like this BLT salad recipe. It was the worse thing I have ever ate and I kept eating it until I started getting gag reflex. You see, I’m that person who keeps eating just so I don’t have to throw food away. I hate throwing food away. Anyways, ever since that day every time I hear salad, all I can think about is that disgusting flavor and the feeling comes creeping all back again.
While I can often put that feeling behind me, it always stops me from creating my own salads. Fabian made this one, and I’m so happy he did. It was absolutely delicious. Plus, I truly believe this BLT salad recipe can be a great way to make a dish extra special when entertaining at home. Can you imagine putting different dishes on the table and creating this BLT salad recipe to combine the food with? I certainly do
